From an early age, Marlene was destined for greatness and has built a career on exceeding expectations.  She was honored multiple times for her gift of vision, passion, philanthropy and featured as a mentor for her many accomplishments in Marilyn Miglin’s book, Women of Destiny.

Growing up as a first generation American, Marlene spent her early years selling real estate, showcasing her father’s condominiums and renting apartments and multiple dwellings.  Construction sites were her fondest playground while in school, leasing, selling and managing her family’s portfolio of properties became her expertise later in life.

Marlene began her professional career in retail and dreamed to someday own her own store.  To no one’s surprise, that is exactly what she did.  Marlene began by wowing the folks at Jaeger Sportswear Boutiques ~ training salespeople, opening and merchandising new stores across the country for this British conglomerate.  Next, she spent some time dazzling the discerning clientele at Neiman Marcus ~ spearheading their largest ready-to-wear department, before she stepped out on her own as co-owner of Terri D. Ltd., a landmark women’s specialty store featuring European fashions at American price points and subsequently changed the face of Oak street forever.   All while concurrently owning children’s boutiques in Dallas and Denver with her husband and his family.

As a partner at Terri D. Ltd., Chicago’s premiere specialty store boutique, Marlene met and worked together with some of the most influential people of Chicago, while growing her business to unprecedented heights.  She pioneered new marketing endeavors for both the store and the world renowed Oak Street.  Marlene’s love of fashion and passion for people made her one of the leading faces in the fashion and business community.  She developed an uncanny knack for making matches, understanding her clientele and building long lasting relationships in the social, philanthropic and business arenas in order to find the perfect fit and/or solution to her clients’ needs.

Having achieved a smashing success in the real estate and retail industry, Marlene was not content to just sit back on her laurels, so she reinvented herself by opening her own Marketing, PR and Special Events agency.  Driven to succeed and fueled by intuition, creating and managing special events, launching landmark promotional campaigns, hosting world class celebrities and dignitaries, spearheading public relations and opening partnerships for international retailers and landmark Chicago institutions were just a few of her accomplishments.  Marlene’s client roster included Bvlgari, Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Charles Ifergan Salons, Fendi, Lalique, Marilyn Miglin, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Prada, The Goodman Theatre, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Depaul Theatre School and United Airlines which were as diverse as her talents.

Listening to her inner voice and inquisitive mind, opportunity knocked again when Marlene joined Baird and Warner.  With an unbridled entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for trends in the marketplace, Marlene secured both her real estate broker’s, managing brokers licenses, e-agent and accredited buyer representative certification to integrate her knowledge of a family construction and real estate business into an expanded professional career.  The opportunity to explore, market and develop creative client solutions, while tapping her expansive network of contacts and resources, was a challenge Marlene is able to bring to interested new home buyers and visionary sellers.  She is able to proactively and instinctively combine all her creative and visionary talents, marketing knowledge and expertise, negotiating skills, relationship and experience.  The result of carefully listening to the needs, wants and desires of the home buyer and seller and willingness to work tirelessly, creates unparalleled satisfaction as well as an uncompromising promise of service.  With drive and determination, Marlene’s commitment as a real estate broker pioneers new territory to insure the perfect fit in marketing and selling her client’s homes while meeting and exceeding her clients’ expectations.  Marlene has sold well over 100 million dollars in her short real estate tenure and ranks consistently among the top 1% not only at Baird and Warner but from the Lake Shore to the North Shore.  Her territory covers the lions share of the north Chicagoland area.

When she’s not busy solving her clients’ needs, Marlene is busy giving something back.  She has worked within the philanthropic community on many worthwhile causes such as the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, where she co-founded the Women’s Board, a shelter in the city for battered and abused women with children, where she and her former partner built a day care center, or the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC, where she donates her expertise as a publicist and marketing expert and more significantly her experience as a first generation American from a long line of survivors.  She also insures that those in need have warm clothing for the winter, developmentally disadvantaged children and adults have food and shelter while finding the time for the loves of her life: skiing, travel and spending time with her family.  Her husband, Lee, of more than 36 years, her son, Jared, and his wife, Annie (and their two toddlers) and her daughter, Dena and  husband, Zach and their twin infants.
